Corsairs Hold on for Conference Victory

This game was a tale of two very different offensive styles, but in the end, it was the Corsair defense that proved to be the difference.

In the first half, Ralph Gordon II scored three specatular touchdowns, including an electrifying 35-yard punt return to give the Corsairs a 21-13 halftime lead.  The Vaqueros would bounce back in the second half behind the powerful running of Collin Keoshian, who carried the ball 38 times for 186 yards.

The second half appeared to belong to the Corsairs, who extended to a comfortable 35-20 lead.  From that point, it was all Glendale.  Behind very good defense and Keoshian, they cut the lead to 3 points with 6:24 remaining.  After a botched fake punt by SMC, the Vaqueros got the ball back on the SMC 32 yard line, needing just one first down to get into range for a tying field goal.

The Corsair defense had a different plan.  They stepped up, and on 4th and 1, held Keoshian to no-gain, sealing the dramatic win.

The Corsairs next take the field on Saturday October 13 at Corsair Stadium.  That game is our Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
